Preserve the small family stories that matter

Everyday details can help future readers understand the people behind a memory.

Start with an ordinary moment

Choose a meal, journey, tradition or conversation you remember. Explain who was there and what made the moment distinctive. Small details can help a reader picture the scene without an elaborate introduction.

Add names and context carefully

Record the approximate time and place when useful. Check names with someone who remembers the event. Be thoughtful about personal or sensitive information concerning people who have not agreed to its sharing.

Explain why you kept the memory

Describe what the story taught you or why it still makes you smile. A personal reflection gives the reader a connection to the memory beyond a list of dates.

Use the tools available today

Write the story in a LastConnect life-lesson record and keep original photographs in your current storage. Photo, audio and video attachments are planned. Do not assume writing a story makes it public or sends it to relatives.
