Build an account list without exposing your passwords

List the providers

Write down the names of banks, insurers, lenders and pension providers you use. Record the type of account and a contact route. Avoid adding full card details or login secrets to ordinary notes.

Point to the documents

Explain where current statements, policy documents and account correspondence are kept. Include physical files and online document folders. Check that someone with proper authority could understand the locations you describe.

Explain any regular commitments

Note recurring household payments and the organisations to contact. Identify which records need regular updating. This is an information list; it does not give another person authority to operate an account.

Review with the right person
