Planning

Start your affairs plan in fifteen minutes

A small first step can make your information easier to find.

Choose one useful starting point

Start with a single account, document or person. You do not need to describe your whole life today. Choose something your family would struggle to locate and write down where the information is kept.

Record the location, not the secret

Add the provider name, a useful contact and the location of the original record. Keep passwords, PINs and recovery codes in your secure password manager. A planning note should explain the authorised access process.

Give the record a clear title

Use a name you will recognise later, such as Household insurance or Main savings account. Check spelling and contact details. A short accurate entry is more useful than a long description nobody can follow.

Return when something changes

Save your own information when ready, or keep it as a draft while checking details. An agent submission needs your approval. Records stay private; saving does not send messages or arrange release.
