Funeral

Avoiding pressure when planning a funeral

Protect your time, budget and space to grieve.

Agree a budget early

Ask for itemised prices before committing. Check additions, third-party charges and cancellation terms. An expensive service is not a measure of love.

Delegate clearly

Give reliable helpers specific tasks, such as contacting guests or arranging transport. Confirm who will make the final decisions so work is not duplicated.

Allow time to pause

Planning can take attention away from your own feelings. Take breaks and ask someone to cover tasks when you need rest.

Keep boundaries respectful

People may disagree about arrangements. Return to the recorded wishes and practical limits. You do not have to resolve old conflicts or accept unsafe contact during a bereavement.
